"PROPHESY unto us SMOOTH THINGS"

"PROPHESY unto us SMOOTH THINGS"
-by Darren Smith.

As conditions around the world get worse it seems the sleeping
state of the modern church gets worse. As earthquakes become
more frequent and famine as well as oppression grows, we sleep.
As the prosperity message pollutes the world, we sleep. What
will it take to waken the church?

I want to give you some things to think about on our local level.
Houston is the capitol of the world for human trafficking, yeah
that's right, Houston. We get the stories on the local news but
never see them on a national level, in fact, they are not getting
as much attention even here as they were. Houston is also the
home of the largest abortion clinic in the United States, yet it is
also home to some of the biggest churches in the nation. Gang
violence is at epidemic levels as the Mexican drug cartels use
violence and fear to take over more and more neighborhoods. The
Border with Mexico is a war zone and is to the point where many
experts are saying the country is on the verge of a revolution, and
still we sleep. Most are content with living their comfortable life
and turning their thoughts away from the truth of what is really
happening. Our nation has never been in a worse state than it is
right now, and life as we know it is about to change forever as
judgment falls, and still we sleep.

Why can't we look at the signs around us and see where we really
are? Because we don't want to know the truth, it's too hard. We
want to hear only the smooth things as the Bible says in Isa 30:
10-11. The modern church says unto the seer "do not see" and to
the prophet "prophesy unto us smooth things." We are in a state
of denial so deep I'm afraid it is too late for most to see the
destruction that awaits. When a prophet gives truth he is rejected
and scorned, yet the false prophets, or should I say profits, are
held in high esteem. In all this, the Gospel has been lost, or
should I say, stolen. The enemy has done a great job in stealing
and hiding the truth and he has done it by promoting a false gospel
of prosperity. No matter what denomination you name, the
humanistic gospel of Self has crept its way in and rocked the
people to sleep. The mandate to take the Gospel, which is the
power of God, to the nations has been lost to the gospel of comfort
and self promotion.

This has happened in every form of the modern church, from the
preaching, to the music. The message of the Cross is no longer
found in sermons or songs. The blood has been overtaken by
smooth words and songs designed to make us feel better about
ourselves. A couple of days ago, while traveling in East TX, I saw
a billboard for a church that said life is hard, church shouldn't be.
I thought to myself, nothing could be farther from the truth. Truly
being the church is the hardest thing you will ever do in your life.
We are called to be the church, not attend a social meeting
designed to make us feel better. Being the Church requires self
sacrifice and commitment to the cross. It requires you to live the
Gospel everyday, not just on Sunday. It is for this very reason
our cities as well as our whole nation are asleep and out of the
will of God, yet we still believe that we are Gods' chosen land.
How much longer can we sleep? I believe just as long as we have
smooth lullaby's in sermon and song to sooth us in our slumber.

I refuse to let the sleeping dog lie in this state. I will not prophesy
the smooth things and I refuse not to say what I see coming. For
this reason, I don't get to preach in many churches, but that
doesn't really matter, neither did the prophets. The message of
God cannot be stopped by man or man's organizations and God
is raising an army of fearless preachers out here that has nothing
to lose by preaching the truth, because it's all we have. We have
already forsaken the world for the Cross. You may not want to
hear what we have to say, but you cannot stop the truth. If you
are one in this army, set your face like flint and march forward,
don't retreat, there is nothing to return to. Don't faint, let the Lord
be your strength for you will face persecution even from those
close to you, but you will see victory. This is a time of war not
peace, a time for the extreme and the radical, a time for
revolutionaries. Don't walk in fear, march forward in faith.

I haven't sent out anything in a while, I have been struggling with
an illness in my liver and have had to take some time to be still
and quiet, but now am at a point to let it go. Please pray for God
to heal me and give me strength to march on in this battle. I'm
setting dates to speak now for mid April and May - if anyone would
like me to come please contact us.

Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,

Dear Friends,

Thank you for praying for us while we were in North Thailand. We saw the hand of God in our journey and ministry. We thank God for His protection from what could have been a serious accident while I was driving from Chieng Mai to Nan Province. We thank God for preparing the heart of the Pastors and Churches to receive the Word we brought. One leader commented during evaluation time: “It was sharp and piercing but we like it”.

This was not a compliment but it is biblical.

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Even when truth is brought with love, it is sharp and piercing. Because it is God’s Word. Because it desires to go deep. Because it wants to bring change.

Nan Province

Praphan [my friend and interpreter (writer, teacher of the Word, man of many talents)], Somchai , Berm [Praphan’s disciples], Vijaya and I travelled by road about 5 hours to this province. We were ministering in this 3 days meeting organised by the Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand. Spoke to them the first night on rising up and fulfilling their God given destiny to be a “Prophetic Generation”. To call out what should be there in Thailand. To call out what God is calling out in Thailand. On the second morning I spoke on “God’s Work must be done in God’s Way”. And at night spoke on the Hour [Midnight Hour] we live in and what is going to happen and what is God going to do and what we should be doing. Next and last morning in Nan Province spoke on Developing the Body of Christ with all the resources God has given us.

Nakhon Thai Province

We drove again another 5 hours south to Nakhon Thai. On the 25th I had fever and a bad cold.

26/3 and 27/3/2010 mornings I taught them on Divine Guidance.

26/3 night -spoke on the Hour [Midnight Hour] we live in and what is going to happen and what is God going to do and what we should be doing.

27/3 night – spoke on “God’s Work must be done in God’s Way”.

28/3 morning service spoke on “Wise people seek Jesus and worship HIM”.

Taught also the congregation about Christmas and its connection to idolatry.

Returned to Penang, Malaysia on 30/3/2010. I passed the flu to Vijaya. We are both recovering from flu. Thanks for your prayers.

Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,

Dear Friends and partners,

We greet you in Jesus Name; the most precious name and the only name given to all people on earth. Only through that name we can have salvation.

Friends, we thank you for standing with us through your prayers when we were in Thailand. Thailand is in a troubled state; divided as “Reds’ and “Yellows” just like the Church of Jesus Christ is divided by denominations.

I have been observing for some time that pastors of churches like to use the word “Touch not the anointed ones” to protect themselves. If any member questions them then they are accused as rebelling against leadership and touching the anointed ones. Before I go further I want to say that I have seen true shepherds who diligently care for and protect and lead their flock [there are very few of such shepherds around –I greatly honor such shepherds] but I am also aware of those who call themselves shepherds but are “wolves who feed on lambs” and “bosses” who lord over their people. True shepherds will be rewarded and wolves and “bosses” will be destroyed.

What does this verse means and to whom it is applied?

1 Chronicles 16:22 (NKJV) 22 Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”

Abraham and the patriarchs were not literally anointed with oil as though they were entering the priesthood or kingship. In this context, anointed ones means those set apart for God’s service. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the whole of Israel was anointed [set apart]. prophets: Though the office of prophet as a “professional” calling began with Samuel, there were individuals from the earliest days of biblical history who were known as prophets. The reference here is specifically to Abraham, who is called a prophet in Gen. 20:7, This was the first occurrence of the word in the Bible.

Genesis 20:7 (NKJV) 7 Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”

The above verse can be applied to all of God’s people and not just some church leaders.

Exalt their position and themselves

2 Kings 2:12 (NKJV) 12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.

Recently a pastor taught the people to call their pastors “father” because this is how they address their senior pastor. This is how Elisha called Elijah. I am wondering if the papal system is coming back fully to the present church. I have already seen such signs in the present church.

Terrify the members

These are the ones who control and manipulate and put fear in the hearts of the people. It is not the fear of God but the fear of the leaders. These are the Talibans who terrorise the people of God. They like to use scriptures such as below to put fear in the hearts of people.

Numbers 12:1-3 (NKJV) Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2 So they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)

Numbers 12:9-13 (NKJV) 9 So the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed. 10 And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper. 11 So Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned. 12 Please do not let her be as one dead, whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb!” 13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!”

Observe how Moses responded

Num 12:13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!”

Moses was a man of God who loved God and loved people. When it was a matter concerning God and His word; Moses stood boldly like a lion. But when it was an accusation against him; he fell flat on his face before God. God defended him. I believe this is the standard Church leaders should follow and not try to defend themselves.

Consider the Words of the Greatest Minister.

Matthew 23:8-12 (NKJV) 8 But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. 9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

If He is Lord of our lives then we should follow His example.

Paul did.

1 Corinthians 11:1 (NKJV) Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

Lucifer exalted himself and his position

Isaiah 14:12-13 (NKJV) 12 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north;

Honor your elders

1 Timothy 5:17-21 (NKJV) 17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 18 For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” 19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses. 20 Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. 21 I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality.

Honor is not double salute but double pay to take care of the needs of those who teach the Word of God with integrity of heart.

Elders [matured leaders –who could be moving in any of the following gifting –Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, who use their God given gifting to teach and equip the local church should be supported with tithes and offerings. It is the responsibility of believers who are being spiritually fed by ministers of the gospel to support them financially. A Christian minister who has been faithful in preaching the Word of God should have his needs and the needs of his family well taken care of by the church. It is the spiritual responsibility of the local churches to make sure that they are faithful in supporting God’s work.

The truth sets you free.

EASTER

EASTER
pascha (3957), mistranslated “Easter” in Acts 12:4, kjv, denotes the Passover (rv). The phrase “after the Passover” signifies after the whole festival was at an end. The term “Easter” is not of Christian origin. It is another form of Astarte, one of the titles of the Chaldean goddess, the queen of heaven. The festival of Pasch held by Christians in post-apostolic times was a continuation of the Jewish feast, but was not instituted by Christ, nor was it connected with Lent. From this Pasch the pagan festival of “Easter” was quite distinct and was introduced into the apostate Western religion, as part of the attempt to adapt pagan festivals to Christianity.
Vine, W., Unger, M. F., & White, W. (1997, c1996). Vine's complete expository dictionary of Old and New Testament words (electronic ed.) (2:192). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.

Easter was originally a pagan festival honoring Eostre, a Teutonic goddess of light and spring. At the time of the vernal equinox (the day in the spring when the sun crosses the equator and day and night are of equal length), sacrifices were offered in her honor. As early as the eighth century, the word was used to designate the annual Christian celebration of the resurrection of Christ.
The only appearance of the word Easter (KJV) is a mistranslation of pascha, the Greek word for “Passover” (Acts 12:4).
Youngblood, R. F. (1997, c1995). Nelson's new illustrated Bible dictionary : An authoritative one-volume reference work on the Bible with full color illustrations (F. Bruce, Ed.) (electronic edition of the revised edition of Nelson's illustrated Bible dictionary.). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.

Asking our children to paint eggs is from paganism -it is from fertility rite.

Let us celebrate Jesus The Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,

Dear Friends, think about the prophet Jeremiah. How many of today’s church leaders will invite Jeremiah to be the speaker at their church growth conference or at least in their prophetic conferences? Many of today’s prophets are celebrated. They have nice personal prophecies for everyone. There was no proven ministry Jeremiah. There was no fruit to show in the ministry. He was not a successful minister.

What is success? Most definitions include references to achieving goals and acquiring wealth, prestige, favour, and power. “Successful” people enjoy the good life –financially and emotionally secure, surrounded by admirers, and enjoying the fruits of their labours. They are leaders, opinion makers, trend-setters. Their example is imitated; their accomplishments are noticed. They know who they are and where they are going, and they stride confidently to meet their goals.

By these standards, Jeremiah was a miserable failure. For 40 years he served as God’s prophet to Judah; but when Jeremiah spoke, nobody listened. Consistently and passionately he urged them to act, but nobody responded. And he certainly did not attain material success. He was poor and underwent severe deprivation to deliver his prophecies. He was thrown into prison [chap 37] and into a well [chap 38], and he was taken to Egypt against his will [chap 43]. He was rejected by his neighbours [ 11:19-21], his family [12:6], the false prophets and priests [20:1,2], friends [20:10], his audience [26:8], and the kings [36:23]. Throughout his life, Jeremiah stood alone, declaring God’s messages of disaster [doom], announcing the new covenant, and weeping over the fate of his beloved nation. In the eyes of the world and today’s church; Jeremiah was not successful. He was an absolute failure.

But in God’s eyes, Jeremiah was one of the most successful people in all of history. Success, as measured by God, involves obedience and faithfulness. Regardless of opposition and personal cost, Jeremiah courageously and faithfully proclaimed the Word of God. He was obedient to his calling.

Think about this my friends:

Jeremiah confronts many people with their sins: kings, false prophets, those at the temples, and those at the gates. People did not respond to his message positively. That made Jeremiah wonder if he was doing any good at all. He often felt discouraged and sometimes bitter. To bring such depressing negative messages to these people was a burdensome task.

Friends, we too have a responsibility to bring God’s Word to a sleeping and dying church and also to the fallen world. Although we may feel discouraged at the lack of response, we must press on to tell the church and others the consequences of sin and the hope that God offers.

Jeremiah 12:5 (NKJV) 5 “If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, Then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, In which you trusted, they wearied you, Then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan?

It is going to be very challenging. But we have help from above. Let us pray for each other and encourage each other.

Dear Friends, who stand alongside us through your prayers and financial support. We greet you and thank you in Jesus name. I recently visited Bandung, Indonesia and spent my time encouraging and exhorting God’s leaders. Many were hurt, disappointed, discouraged and at the point of giving up. I praise God for giving me this opportunity and pleasure of meeting them and being with them to lift them up with the Word of God. It was possible because you stood with us. Please continue to uphold us through your prayers.
